You were at a loss for words, spatula in hand nearly dropped due to the surprise that was marring your face. Then you turn, facing the figure that was your husband, Yuri Lowell, who was currently staring at you with a shit-eating grin on his face. “Are we really doing this again?”
“Hey, you could at least say thank you,” he said, turning you round then wrapping his arms around your torso, putting his chin on your shoulder. “It’s a really nice compliment in more ways than one.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t know that was actually a compliment, not an overused pick up line,” you sighed, stirring the pot of stew that was currently steaming before you. “By the way, can you stop trying to get my attention for once? I’m making dinner and you’re not even helping.”
“For your information, I’ve been doing kitchen stuff way before you came, and I have not even once tasted a woman’s cooking,” he said, pouting at your frown. “Until now. So you can’t blame me for not trying to help you out.”
“Yeah, yeah, keep your excuses.” You went on stirring the pot, a mocking smile threatening to tug your lips upwards. “Mind helping me set the table, then? I could use a hand for that.”
“Aye aye, ma’am.” Yuri relented to your bidding, releasing you from his grip, but not before he gave your bulging belly a soft pat, whispering, “Don’t want the little one to get mad at me because I didn’t help his mama.”
“Yuri.”
“Yes?”
“The table.”
“Right. Be right back. Oh, and by the way.”
You half turned, body poised to listen to what he had to say. “What?”
“Know what’s on the menu?” he said, a surprisingly wide grin nearly breaking his face in two. “Me-n-u.”
“That’s it. No dinner for you until you behave.”
“I can’t believe I just married my own mother.”
“Well deal with it. You’re gonna be a papa after this and-oh!”
“What? What’s going on? What’s wrong? Hey-”
“...Yuri.”
“Yes?”
“M-my… my-”
“Your what?”
“...My water just broke.”
“Yes?”
